chapter 13 gene

This was my last year in school. I could not belive what had happened to my best friend. Brinker came down into my room and told me to go with him to the Butt room to meet his father. So i told him that i would and so i went with him. Brinkers father gave us lectures on Why we should serve in the war and such. After brinkers father leaves i tell Brinker that i will enlist in the war but i will not fight for devon. I will enlist somewhere elese. Brinker said that was fine. Thats how my senior year at Devon ended.

chapter12 gene

Finny had fallen down the marbel stair case. As soon as all of us have arrived one boy yells go get the wrestling coach. so i end up going with 2 other boys to get the coach. When the coach arrives he tells me that Finny had just broken his leg again and he will be ok. He also tells me that his time his leg isn't as bad as the first time/ the last time. Finny is rushed to the hospital. I snuck into the hospital because kids are not allwoed in there. When all the doctors and people got out of Finnys room i decided to stand in front of the window. Finny sees me and started moving in his bed. Then Finny falls out of the bed i didn't want to help him because he would blame me again for something i didn't do. Dr. Stanapole came to me and asked me to pack Finnys things in a suite case so i did. Then i brought the suit case to the hospital. When i got there Finny took the suit case when he was trying to open the suit case i noticed that he started to shake. Finny told me that the only reason why he didn't want me to enlist in the war was because they rejected him because of his leg. since he couldn't go he didn't want me to go. Then Dr. Stanapole tells me to leave and come back in a few hours because they were going to give finny some anestia. So i left then when i came back in a few hours Dr. Stanapole told me that Finny had died. i couldn't even breathe when i heard this.I could not belive this had really happened to me .My best friend had really died. I didn't cry when i got the news and i didn't cry at the funeral this was because i felt as if i had just died. Thats how my best friend in the world died.

chapter 11 gene

When i am walking back to the school from lepers house, i noticed that Finny was having a snowball fight. I really didn't want to join the snowball fight, but Finny told me that i should, so i did. Then Brinker came up to me and asked me how leper was and i told him that he had completly changed. i told him that the old leper was gone and that there was a new leper. i also told him that leper decided to leave the army because he was feeling sick. i wanted to forget what had happened to Finny but Brinker kept on bringing it up. one night me and Finny were in our rooms WHen Brinker comes into our room with a bunch of other guys. Brinker says that we are going to the Assembly hall. I told him that i didn't want to go but one of the guys that was with Brinker decided to carry me there. When we got there, there was alot of people. Brinker told me that there were judges and a jurry and they wanted to settel the case of what happened to Finny that night. When it was Finnys turn to talk i thought that he was going to say that i pushed him of the tree on purpose but instead he said that he lost his balance and before he knew ithe was in the river. Finny was so mad at what Brinker was doing so he decided to leave the Assembly hall. When he left i was about to fallow him when his footsteps stopped and i heard a big crash.

chapter 10gene

I get a letter from leper saying that he is coming home in 3days. When the third day came i decided to go to his house and see what was going on. When i got there lepier told me that they wanted to put him on "section 8". i asked him why he came back from the war so fast, and he told me that he wasn't feeling good at all. Leper was very sick and he could no longer be involved in the war. I started to call leper names. Then leper told me that i pushed Finny out of the tree on purpose. He said that because he knew how much i hated when somebody would say that. I couldn't stand it when somebody would tell me that i pushed my best friend out of the tree on purpose. I had a temper so i threw lepiers chair and before i knew it, lepers mom was standing right there.Lepers mom told me that leper was very sick and i should not attempt to attack a sick person. Then leper asks me to stay for lunch after what i did to him . i said that i would stay for lunch. After we ate lunch lepers mom told us to go for a walk and talk about things. So me and leper ended up going for a walk. leper told me about the harsh conditions at the war. i just started running as fast as i could because i could no longer listen to what he had to say.

Chapter9 gene

Well leper ends up enlisting in the war. We told him that the war was really dangerious and we didn't want him to get hurt, but he didn't listen and he ended up enlisting in the war. When we knew that he was at war we all looked at the war as if it was un real or something. We could not belive that after everything we told Lepier he still enlisted. Brinker and i always joke about lepier and if he is ever going to come back alive. Finny would just sit there and tell us that we should not make fun of lepier. I now stopped smoking because i wanted to be healthy for the olympics . I was glad that Leper would always send me a letter. In his letters he would say something like" i escaped" or " i'm ok".me and Brinker always joked around. I really did miss Lepier. I always was joking about him coming home because if i didn't then i would end up crying and worrying about him. I really didn't want anything bad to happen to him. I just hoped that he would come home safly. I also wanted to see him again for the last time.

chapter 8 gene

Well since Finny is back, He was staying in our room. When we were in our room Brinker decides to come in. Brinker asked me if i was ready to enlist in the war and i told him that i was. Then he left our room. Finny turned around and asked me if i was seriosly foing to enlist in the war and i told him that i was. For the first time in my life i felt that Finny really cared about me. I felt that he cared about me because he told me that i shouldn't. i decided to listen to my best friend and i ended up not signing up for the war. I decided to take a long walk with Finny. As we were walking he asked me what sports i had been doing. I told him non and that i hadn't signed up for any either. I decide to start traing for the olymipics. The next morning i was running by the school and Mr. Ledsburry comes out. He asked finny what i was doing and Finny told him that i was training for the olympics. Mr. Ledsbury was surprised that i was training for the olypics because i don't like sports and i am not good at them either. Then Mr. Ledsbury decides to leave.

chapter 7 gene

Brinker comes into my room and starts making fun of how i have a big room all to myself. I myself did not find that funny at all. When he mensioned that i felt a gulit feeling building up in my chest. I just hated that feeling it reminded me of the day of the accident. I still can not belive that really happened. Well the real reason why Brinker came into my room was because he wanted to go smoke ciggerats. I aggred to go down to the basement. The basement was divide into alot of rooms. Brinker decided that the best room for smoking was in the " Butt room". " i feel like a smoke,don't you?"(pg.80). " Lets go down to the Butt room"(pg 80). " the Butt room was something like a dungeon"( pg.80). As we were in the Butt room Brinker started making fun again. He said that the butt room looked like a dungeon for criminals. He kept on saying that i should be put in there because i was a criminal. He said i was a criminal because i broke Finnys leg. I couldn't take him making jokes out of something serious so i decided to tell him i had to study for french because i had a test. So i ended up leaving without somking with Brinker. Oh well.......that was his fault he shouldn't have been making fun of me or the situation. When i was walking with Leper and Brinker, Leper tells me that he is sick of school and that he wants to join the army. I told him that if he enlists then i will too. So we end up both enlisting tthe army. When i go back my room i see Finny there. " Phineas was back"(pg.94).

Chapter 6

I am still the same old Gene however all my friends think i pushed Finny on purpose. I really did not mean to push Finny off the tree. We were both standing on the treee and then i turned around to ask him what time it was and as i was turning around to ask him my elbow slightly hit him and that caused him to fall off the tree. In a result breaking his leg. Now he can no longer do any sports. Since i was the cause of Finny's fall i will have to become " the new Finny". I want to make Finny proud i was the cause of his broken leg and i have to do something about it so i decided to be just as good as Finny was in sports. " I've got to have some real help around here.This crew is going to win the New England scholastics, or my name isn't Cliff Quackenbush"(pg.69). Quackenbush is my new boss at work. He is really mean. Quackenbush always insults me and tells me that i can't do anything. Quackenbush told me that since i couldn't row that i had to work as maneger. I knew this job was for disabaled students so i happened to lose my temper and i started fighting Quakenbush. When we were fighting he pushed me into the river and because i was holding on to him he also fell into the river. That was the day i got fierd from my job. As i was going back into my room Mr. Ledsbury told me that someone had called me.Mr Ledsbury had written the number down for me, so i called it . When the person picked up it was Finny. i was so happy to hear his voice. He just wanted to see how was our room and i had told him that i had no roomates. When he heard this he was shocked.Then Finny told me that i should join sports just so i can be a part of him. When i heard this i told him that i was not good at sports , but being a good friend Finny told me that he had to join sports just for his sake. I ended up agreeing to this. So i ended up joing sports.

Chapter 5 Gene

Finny and i were up in a tree. Then when i was on the top of the tree with Finny, I turned around to ask him a question and as soon as i turned around my elbow tapped him and he fell. Finny fell into the river. I really didn't mean to push him in, it was an accident. Everyone thinks it's my fault that Finny fell into the water. No one belives me. Finny thinks i pushed him of the tree on purpose because he said i was jelious of his athletic ability. I am not jelious at his athletic ability. He is good at sports and i am good in school subjects. I would never be jelious of my friend even through he is better then me at sports. I hate when people tell me that i pushed him on purpose but i didn't. Well after the incedent Finny ended up breaking his leg. Since he broke his leg he can no longer partisapate in sports. "Eventually a fact emerged; it was one of his legs it was"

Chapter 3

I think of thanking Finny because he saved my life, but whats the point of that i wouldn't have been up in the tree in the first place if it wasn't for finny and his crazy ideas. Finny decides that he want to make a new club. So he does and he calles the club :" The super suicide society". He makes me join the club and he convinces 6 other boys to join as well. The meetings were held at night. Since Finny was the inventor/ creator of his club he got to make up the rules. I really hated his rules. One of his rules was to jump off a tree and land into the river. This is how he wanted to start off each meeting. That was one rule i hated. Well i can't complain because i did tell Finny that i wasn't afraid to jump of the tree.I told Finny that i wasn't afraid to jump of the tree because if i did he would call me chicken. I kept on going to the club meetings although i never did jump of the tree. The next day Finny decides to invent a new game called " Blitzball". In order to play this game you needed a medicine ball and at least 2 players. Finny found a medicine ball on the feild so he took it then he put leather around the ball. The way to play this game was to pass the medicine ball by throughing the ball from one player to another. The person with the ball was the target for other members of the opposite team. Finny and i are totally diffrent he loves sports and well..... i like to study. So oneday Finny decides to be all athletic and he decides to try to beat the school swimming record. Well i am not to surprised at the results, because Finny does end up beating the school record. He beat the no longer champion by .7 seconds. I tell him that i will go get reports and he can do that again, so we will have proof that Finny did beat the record,but he refuse. He said he just beat the record to prove to himself and myself that he could have beat the winning person. Finny also tells me not to tell anyone about him beating the record. That night Finny comes up with a crazy idea and that is to sneek to the beach at night. Since Finny is my best friend i decided to go with him. When we went to the beach we ate at a hotdog stand. While we were there we drank beer. Finny told me that he was glad i was his best friend and i told him the same.

chapter4 gene

I have a big test in triganomitry,but instead of studing i go with Finny to the beach. While we are at the beach we eat and drink and then we fall asleep on the beach. Finny wakes up before me so he ends up going for a swim in the beach while i am still sleeping. When i wake up around 9:30ish i realize that i am going to fail the biggest test ever. I hate triganomitry because it is the hardest type of math. Instead of studing i had to go with Finny. So anyway that night i went to the club. When i was talking to Finny i asked him how he would feel if i got valed victorian and he said that it wouldn't matter to him. HE also told me that i should join a sport. Like i said before i care about grades and Finny cares about sports thats how we are different. Finny never gets in trouble. he( Finny ) told Mr. Patch Withers about there trip to the beach and he didn't care. Thats what i don't like about Finny he gets everything his way and the easy way, while i get it the hard way. I think i am a better student then Finny because i do all my school work.

chapter1 gene

One day i was walking with my friend Phineas when we were walking we saw "the tremandous, an irate, steely black steeple besides the river"(6). Off course Phineas always had crazy ideas. He wanted to go climb up the tree and jump down into the stream. " He of course saw nothing the slightest bit intimidating about it" (5). I was the more sarcastic one. When we were yopung boys we went to the Devon school. " I went to the Devon School not long ago,and found it looking oddly newer than when i was a student there fifteen years before"(pg.1). When i saw my school that i attented i was very surprised because they had changed the school alot. " I didn't entirely like this glossy new surface,because it made the school look like a musem,and that's exactly what it was to me, and what i did not want it"(pg.1). The best street in town was the Gilman Street. " I walked along Gilman Street, the best street, the best street in town"(pg.2). The Devon School was not fenced in. It was not fenced in because all good schools were not fenced in back then. " Like all old,good schools, Devon did not stand isolated behind walls and gates but emerged naturally from the town which had produced it" (pg.2-3). I really did like the Devon school. Me and my best freiend Finny went there.

Chapter2 Gene

Finny and I are in summer school. One dayour teacher was absent so we had Mr.Patch-Withers as a substitute. Mr Patch-Withers wanted to punish me and Finny because we had missed dinner but,good thing Finny is my friend because he talked his way out of getting us in trouble. So Mr.Patch-Withers left us without giving us any punishments for missing dinner. My bestes friend in the whole world Finny, incase you didn't know dresses in a pink shirt to resemble the celebration of the first allied bombing in Central Europe. I tried to tell Finny not to wear that shirt because it makes him look weird, but he just didn't listen to me. Finny never listens to me he thinks he is all that. He also thinks he can do anything. He is Mr. showoff. That very same day Mr.Patch-Withers invited us for tea. Well he invited the teachers and students so we weren't the only ones there.Finny is always getting away with everything. When we were at Mr. patch-wither's house, his wife noticed that Finny was wearing his school tie as a belt. Finny was going to get in trouble but he didn't. After that we decide to leave the party. As we are walking Finny sugest to jump off a tree. He asked me if i was afraid and i said no i wasn't when i really was. So we decided to jump off,but as soon as i turned around to talk to finny i sort of lost my balance. It was a good thing Finny was with me or who knows what would have happened.
